Over the next 6-7 weeks the Kauri Team are reading Charlotte's Web by E.B. White. We are investigating into friendships and kindness. This week we have read chapters 1-4 and have created some wonderful pieces responding to this classic novel.
Fern Arable finds her father preparing to kill the runt in a new litter of pigs. Fern persuades her father to let the piglet live and promises to raise it. Fern sells Wilbur to her uncle, on whose nearby farm she often visits her "pet." Goaded by the goose, Wilbur escapes from his pen but is found and returned. From the dark barn Charlotte tells the lonely Wilbur she'll be his friend.
How are you a good friend?
We are a good friend when we show kindness. We care about others feelings and we let people into our games. When there are rules to the games we try to follow them. We care by helping others and sharing when we can. Enjoying peoples company makes us happy and them happy. When you are at someone else's house treat their toys like you would treat yours, respectfully! Give someone a smile and say hello, even if you don't know them.
Treat others how you want to be treated!
Visual Art Responses
As we listened to the Story we wrote some wonderings..
Kyle and Dylan created pig farm out of lego.
It's very detailed with a roof tile that you can lift off and see what's inside the farm building. A tractor sits at the side of the farm and some where you can see Mr Arable and I wonder if Wilbur and Templeton are there too.
Come into Room 6 if you would like to have a close up view.
Keiyan spent ages making Wilbur's little pig house with many many things a pig needs to survive! If you look closely you will see Wilbur's nose and a tooth!
